Want better skin?
Here are a few notes I took from a lecture given by Erica Angyal:
Skin is a barometer of your health.
Green & Yellow Vegetables-help with less wrinkling (especially crow’s feet). Should consume at least 3 servings a day. They improve skin color, adds that golden color, healthier looking.
Berries-Help protect your skin from UV rays.
All colorful fruits and vegetables are wrinkle reducers and help your skin to be less dry. In 3 months you can improve your telomeres by 30% with more fruits and vegetables. Increases skin density.
Good Fats- (nuts) Boost water hold capacity and elasticity. This also aids in the absorption of A, D, E & K Vitamin’s and are anti-inflammatory.
Omega 3- anti-inflammatory, reduces PGE-2 (collagen damage), supports elasticity. Elongates your Telomeres (Telomeres are at the ends of your DNA strands, the shorter they are faster you age)
Proteins- help to balance your blood sugar.
Sugar-Accelerated aging called advanced glycation decreases the bloods capacity to expand, causes high levels of insulin and acne. The average person eats 66 lbs of sugar per year.
Trans Fats- are addictive; you are 48% more likely to be depressed
Water-1 ½ times your weight in ounces. Hydrates your skin
Get Sweaty-Exercise, brings oxygen to skin cells, increases circulation, boost your metabolism. 3 hours a week will add 9-10 years to your life. Endurance exercises enhance and rejuvenate your muscles.
Relax-Improves your DHEA
Get Good Rest- When you sleep, your body is in repair mode, your skin repairs the most when you sleep. A lack of sleep pushes up levels of cortzol and insulin.
Let’s eat a rainbow of color.
